Ashland Youth Basketball has opened registration for the 2020-2021 TRAVEL basketball season on an exploratory basis to gauge interest from the families and players in Ashland.  REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT 7PM ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2020.  We apologize for the short notice but Metrowest just finalized plans on Wednesday evening and needs to know if we are entering teams by November 18th.

Due to COVID-19, travel basketball will be significantly different from prior years.  Metrowest is currently planning an 8-game season starting in January with playoffs in March.  Regulations have not been finalized, but spectators will be limited and ALL attendees (including players) will be required to wear masks (during game play and on the bench).

Additional details:

• Basketball will be offered to girls and boys in 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
• Teams will NOT PRACTICE due to lack of gym availability in Ashland
• Teams will be determined without tryouts; there is no guarantee if you sign up that you will be placed on a team
• Most games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays; some games may be scheduled on week nights depending on gym availability
• There will be no home games; games will be played at Mass Premier Courts (Foxboro), Dana Barros Basketball Club (Stoughton), or other town gyms
• Forming of teams is contingent on volunteers to coach so please check off if interested
• Registration and uniform fees will be charged at a future date
• All families will be required to sign a waiver
• If a single player on a team tests positive for COVID, ALL TEAM MEMBERS MUST QUARANTINE AND BE REMOTE FROM SCHOOL FOR 15 DAYS

AYB understands that the decision to play travel basketball during this pandemic is a difficult one, particularly with no practices.  Once we gauge the overall interest level, we will make a final determination about whether we can participate in the Metrowest League this year.

For those who are not interested in travel basketball, we hope that Ashland gyms may be available in late January or early February to host a modified in-town season, cohort style scrimmages, or skills sessions.
